Both platforms charge per user per month. The real question is what you get at each price point — and which features require an upgrade.

Firm360 reviewers say
Firm 360 has lots of features created for accountants. There are workflow management tools, detailed reports for management, and many other features. You can create budgeted times for projects, so whenever time is entered the employee knows if they meet the target. There is the ability to create templates for mass emails and letters. It also serves as data storage. It's an amazing all-in-one product.
Firm360's support is unparalleled, always providing accurate answers and treating us with exceptional friendliness.
Setting up the product was a bit of a process but we had support the whole way through with guided tasks that made the transition flow smoothly.
What makes Firm360 great is that it's clearly designed by people who've actually lived through a tax season. It stops you from constantly switching between five different apps by keeping everything you need on one screen.
Canopy reviewers note
I've found that Canopy isn't fully capable of doing everything we need yet, which makes us hesitant to move all our processes there. Task templates have been hard and manual to replicate our internal processes, so we're still using our own lists.
What I dislike most about Canopy is how long it takes to get help when issues come up. As a paying customer, the slow response times are frustrating. The initial setup was also very challenging, and the limited support during that process made onboarding much harder than it needed to be.
The initial setup of Canopy required quite a bit of work, which could be a deterrent for new users or small firms with limited resources. I sometimes experience occasional freeze-ups and task issues with Canopy — the software freezing temporarily prevents me from seeing my tasks.
I would like Canopy to be more intuitive when it comes to designing workflow templates. The deadlines and automation wording can be confusing, which makes it challenging to create and manage workflows effectively. Additionally, it currently does not integrate with other programs we use.
Which platform should your firm choose?
Both platforms serve accounting firms well — but they're built for different priorities. Here's how to think about the choice.
Choose Firm360 if…
- It matters to you that your software was built by someone who's actually run an accounting firm — Firm360 was founded by an active CPA partner who designed it around the real demands of the work
- You serve US-based clients and want a platform purpose-built for the US market, with US-based support and US-specific workflows
- Your firm is focused on AI readiness — Firm360 customers are 1.4× more likely to feel extremely prepared for AI than Canopy customers
- You want workflow automation included at every plan level — not locked behind a $109/user premium tier
Consider Canopy if…
- Your firm needs deep legal and tax resolution capabilities — Canopy was founded by an attorney and built with IRS representation, lien, and compliance workflows at its core
- Your firm serves a significant international client base — Canopy has a broader global user presence than Firm360
- Your firm does heavy tax resolution work and wants built-in IRS transcript integration and tax organizer workflows
- You're willing to invest in the Plus plan ($109/user/mo) to access Canopy's advanced workflow automation
